Thermistor (điện trở nhiệt, temperature dependent resistor, thermal resistor) là passive electronic component (linh kiện thụ động) có giá trị điện trở thay đổi theo nhiệt độ (temperature sensing resistance), dùng để đo nhiệt độ, bù nhiệt và bảo vệ mạch. Khi nhiệt độ môi trường thay đổi, điện trở của thermistor biến đổi mạnh và được vi điều khiển hoặc mạch analog đọc như một temperature sensor.
Có hai loại chính:
NTC thermistor (Negative Temperature Coefficient): nhiệt độ tăng → điện trở giảm, dùng cho temperature measurement, temperature compensation, battery pack monitoring, environment sensing.
PTC thermistor (Positive Temperature Coefficient): nhiệt độ tăng → điện trở tăng mạnh, dùng cho overcurrent protection, resettable fuse (PPTC), overtemperature protection, inrush current limiting.
Thermistor thường được mắc trong voltage divider circuit để đọc qua ADC, hoặc đặt nối tiếp nguồn để hạn dòng khởi động (inrush current limiter) trong power supply, SMPS, motor driver, charger, household appliance, IoT device, embedded systems.
Thông số quan trọng: nominal resistance (R25), B-value/B-constant, temperature range, tolerance, response time, dissipation constant, self-heating effect, package type (bead, disc, SMD).
